Request For Proposal

OVERVIEW

Second Baptist Church is pleased to present this Request for Proposals (RFP) for five (5) sites in the King-Bronzeville neighborhood on Columbus’ Near East Side totaling 2.4 acres, located in the area immediately surrounding its building located at 186 N 17th Street. These sites represent an opportunity to provide housing attainable to local residents in a historically African-American neighborhood that has seen increased development activity and affordability pressure in the past decade.

With this RFP, Second Baptist is specifically seeking proposals that achieve the following goals:

• Quality mixed-income housing that serves households earning a range of incomes and allows longtime residents to stay in the neighborhood;

• Space for various Second Baptist outreach ministries such as its food, clothing distribution, and summer and afterschool programming;

• Food security through neighborhood-serving retail; and

• Economic opportunity for minority and women owned businesses as well as workforce development and job opportunities for local residents.

Responses are due electronically by 5 p.m. on September 14, 2026. Late responses will not be accepted.
